It seems that US has started learning from its past mistakes. But unfortunately, US army is not getting success in capturing or killing the militants. In the recent military operations in Iraq, US American troops have began a major offensive to drive Sunni insurgents from strongholds in Diyala Province without informing Iraqi Army comrades. Many militants managed to save their lives and fled away. This is not the first time when American troops could not able to kill the leaders of these extremist groups like Al Qaeda, Al-Zarqawi’s group. The reason behind how these insurgents managed to get out ahead of the US forces is unclear.
In recent days and weeks, The American commanders carried out operations in other towns, such as Baquba and Wajihiya to confuse these extremist groups But Qaeda men have proved themselves smarter and prompt than American troops . Major General Mark Hertling, the commander of American forces in northern Iraq said,
What has been happening in Baquba and Wajihiya specifically has been somewhat of a deception effort, that’s what’s been kind of holding our tongue, because we have allowed the enemy to believe that Diyala has been wide open while we have been generating forces in here to nail them.
However it is hard to conceal thousands of American soldiers and scores of armored vehicles, Iraqi military units, interpreters and support workers moving from one place to another place. Their movement might alert the terrorist groups and they use to fled from there successfully.
From 2003 invasion of Iraq by US troops, many innocent Iraqi people have died. But no army personnel’s were punished for killing civilians. Iraqi civilians are paying the price with their lives and limbs for many years. To clean its image internationally, American army has decided to court-martial a soldier accused of killing an unarmed Iraqi during a search of a house near Kirkuk last summer.
