Hemant Karkare, Maharashta Police’s Anti-Terrorism Squad chief, was among the 11 police officials who have been killed last night in while fighting terrorists in Mumbai. The officer was probing the Malegaon blasts case. He had three bullet injuries in his chest as he was leading the offensive against the terrorists in one of the places the ultras had holed out early this morning.
The brave officer was hurt by the criticism leveled by BJP leaders especially, L K Advani who put on the charges of torture inflicted on Sadhvi during ATS custody. The torture claim might be bogus, propped up by BJP to garner Hindu sympathy votes in the ongoing elections. Advani and his party would do anything to get votes to come to power and carry out hidden agenda. Every one knows that the accused make hue and cry because they want to escape the Police Remand.
Karkare, a 1982 batch IPS officer was a great man and true hero of India. May his soul rest in peace!
