The data of rising divorce cases among Indians is terrifying. If you believe the data given by founder of SecondShaadi.com, Vivek Pahwa, 60 percent of its more than 25,000 customers of the matrimonial website came from outside India’s five largest cities and 36 percent from outside the 20 largest cities.
Earlier, cases of divorce were very uncommon in the Indian society. Traditional Indian marriages had little to do with romance. Marriages are fixed according to the wishes of elders of the family. And people were bound to take up their marriages till their death, despite disagreement over several issues, innumerable conflicts, and dissatisfaction in sexual lives.

Now the times have changed. Nobody wants to compromise in his/her life. Modern married working woman or man wants to keep his/her personal life intact. The woman who was earlier understood as a servant of the family, is currently earning in five or six figures. The growing financial independence among the women has changed the social scientists. The new generation of women is unwilling to adjust to save their marriages. As in big cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, both men and women are working in very brain-taxing competitive environment, the work pressure creates emotional problems, which reflect on their marital life. Due to mental fatigue, many develop difficulties in sexual activities which also result in broken marriages. Apart from this, the mentality of parents has also changed; they have started supporting their wards in their decision to get separate. In the past, parents of girl used to force her to stay with her husband to preserve the family’s reputation.
